Statement of Faith

We believe in God, the creator of heaven and earth, who is perfect and eternal.

We believe in Jesus Christ, the only son of God, and his virgin birth.

We believe the Holy Spirit has come to glorify Christ and apply Christ’s saving work to our hearts.

We are united with all believers through Jesus Christ.

We believe Christ rose from the dead to sit at God’s right hand in heaven and He will return in power and glory to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead.

We are all in a reconciliation process with God. We acknowledge we all are sinners, saved only by the love of our Lord, Jesus Christ, who died on the cross to forgive our sins with his blood.

Our salvation comes from our personal faith in Christ our Lord. Our lives will change. All who receive Jesus as their Lord become children of God.

The work we do here on earth is our expression of God’s spirit within us.

Our work is to fulfill the Great Commission of Christ: to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world, make disciples of all nations, and commit to a life of love and service.

While this statement of faith does not encompass all our beliefs, we believe God’s word starts and ends with the Bible. This inspired and authoritative Word of God gives us the foundation for our beliefs and scripture sets the standards for all behavior.

Rev. G. Warren Manigault III

Senior Pastor

Our pastor joined us only weeks before the global pandemic changed our world. He quickly shifted services online, thanks to Zoom technology and a lot of volunteer help.

Elder G. Warren Manigault III accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at age 13 while under the instruction of Bishop Dr. Joe L. Smith, senior pastor and founder of the Holy Tabernacle COGIC in Boston, Massachusetts. While attending college and during his 10 years in the U.S. Air Force, he was a member of the Holy Tabernacle COGIC in Brockton, Massachusetts, under the leadership of his father, Bishop G. Warren Manigault II, and his mother, Pastor Catherine M. Manigault.

Elder Manigault came to the Cathedral of Life Christian Assembly in 2001 along with his wife, Julie, and their daughter Adrianah. Two years later, after the birth of his daughter Anjolique, he and his family became partners of the Cathedral of Life under the teaching of Overseer Rev. Dr. Jeffery A. Williams, and his wife, Pastor Angela Williams.

In 2007, he answered God’s call to formal ministry, which he had resisted since his youth. Formally trained in Cathedral’s first Deacon Training Institute, he was subsequently licensed as a Minister of the Gospel in May 2007.

On June 13, 2010, Elder Manigault was consecrated and ordained Elder of Cathedral of Life Christian Assembly by Bishop Christopher T. Cox II, Bishop of Holy Orders, Covenant Ecumenical Fellowship of Cathedral Assemblies, and Senior Pastor of Family Life Worship Cathedral.  In conjunction with his ordination, Elder Manigault was appointed to the office of Assistant Pastor of the Cathedral of Life Christian Assembly by Bishop Rev. Dr. Jeffery A. Williams. He served there until 2016.

He returned to the service of his father, Bishop G. Warren Manigault II, at the Holy Tabernacle Church in Brockton, Massachusetts, Judah Ministries International.  He served as a Governing Elder, Board member and head of Media & Outreach Ministries until 2020, when he again answered the call to the pastorate.

On Feb. 29, 2020, he was recruited for Senior Settled Pastor of Candleberry Chapel, where he currently serves as Senior Minister and Ex-Officio of Candleberry Chapel Inc.

Rev. Manigault is currently employed as Vice President of Operations and Facilities Management at the New England Center and Home for Veterans, a nonprofit and veterans advocacy organization in Boston, Massachusetts. He volunteers as the Board Treasurer and Finance Committee Chair for the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center in Worcester County.

Rev. Manigault graduated magna cum laude from Roger Williams University with a BS in Social and Health Services, earned a Project Management Certificate from Bryant University, a Certificate from the New England School of Banking and Finance and an MBA from Fitchburg State University.  He is pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary.

Rev. Manigault’s life scripture is found in 1 Corinthians 9:16 – “For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for I am under compulsion; for woe is me if I do not preach the gospel.”

History of Candleberry Chapel

Candleberry Chapel was founded in 2005 by Rev. Kenneth A. Boyle. He and his wife, Dale, converted a carriage house and barn on their property in Attleboro to create a new church home. Local craftsmen incorporated pine and rough-hewn lumber to remind us all that Jesus Christ was born in a barn, with humble beginnings. Set in a peaceful landscape, with an orchard, pond, large maple tree and stone walls, the Chapel brings people to hear God’s word while worshipping amid God’s world.

At first, our services were just on Saturday evenings. But as our membership grew, we added a Sunday service. Faith is our foundation, but food has always been central to our formation as a church family. Most meetings involved a potluck meal. Spring and fall fairs attracted visitors, as well as our live Christmas tree planted on the property and lit with a community singalong.

Rev. Boyle retired in 2017, and Rev. Bradley J. Miller led the church as interim pastor through a time of transition for two years. While a search for a permanent pastor was underway, members of the congregation shared duties of leading worship and managing church operations.

Rev. G. Warren Manigault III answered the call to be Senior Pastor in February 2020. Within a month of his arrival, the global coronavirus pandemic closed in-person services, replaced almost immediately by virtual worship services and Bible study sessions on Zoom. The church reopened Memorial Day weekend in 2021 and continues to livestream its services on Facebook. It remains an attractive location for weddings, baby dedications and memorial services.

Today we draw our members from both sides of the Massachusetts and Rhode Island border – from Attleboro, South Attleboro, Cumberland, North Providence, Pawtucket, Valley Falls and Plainville.
